Should the step find a way to pivot, the additional angled surfaces act as an additional area of support and truly offer the largest area to step on of any climbing step yet.

The same as other climbing steps on the market, under less-than-ideal circumstances, the platform step is susceptible to hinging.

But even if hinging should occur, the extra wide area contacting the strap maintains incredibly solid footing.
